BD 54 // Get Out
As I’m writing this battle blog for Get Out I’m realizing we did Inside Out for #52… “Out” is so IN right now!
Normally we do these as dinners and when we picked horror as the genre at the end of BD 53 our guest couple shouted out “Ohhh hell no!” She is scared of horror (isn’t that the point?), so we came up with a solution that was to be another first for Battle Dinner: BATTLE BRUNCH.
Yep, we opted to calm our guests’ nerves by offering a daytime showing and while it sounded like a cool way to mix things up, I didn’t realize the added complications a brunch brings to the mix.
It’s at 10:30am
Brunch needs to have some breakfast vibe
It’s at 10:30am
So why is 10:30am such a big deal? I’m not a pro chef and oftentimes I’ll spend a full day prepping for our Battle Dinners and the timing has to be perfect. With a morning start, I had to prep everything the day before and there was no room for error. If I screw this up… there is no time to run to the store.
Cue Queen + Bowie, Under Pressure.
THE REVEAL
We adopted the “slow reveal” menu concept a few dinners ago and it really makes it a blast. We used to show the whole menu right up front but now we show each “course” as it’s being prepared. That way the visitors are piecing together the clues throughout the course of the dinner.
